Bowmark exits Law Business Research to Levine Leichtman

Madeleine Farman 2 January 2018

Bowmark Capital has sold Law Business Research to Los Angeles-based private equity firm Levine Leichtman Capital Partners.

Bowmark picked up the London-headquartered legal publisher in February 2013 with the intention to expand the business both in sector and its geographic coverage.

During Bowmark’s hold, Law Business Research has more than doubled its sales and profits with staff headcount increasing by 80 per cent.

The business has introduced two new titles, Global Investigations Review and Global Restructuring Review, and established a new Arbitrator Research Tool attached to its publication Global Arbitration Review. It has also enhanced its online platform.

Levine Leichtman picked up Law Business Research through its Levine Leichtman Capital Partners VI fund.

The firm has managed around $9bn of institutional capital since it was founded in 1984 and has invested in over 60 mid-market companies. Levine Leichtman has targeted businesses in consumer/branded products, franchises, business services, healthcare, education and engineered products/light manufacturing.
