Skype founders raise $45m

Joost, the new venture of Skype co-founders Janus Friis and Niklas Zennström, has raised $45m (€33.3m) from Index Ventures, Sequoia Capital, CBS Corporation, Viacom and the Li Ka Shing Foundation.

Turenne backs Mediastay buyout with 3.8m

Turenne Capital has backed the owner buyout of Mediastay with a €3.8m investment. Banque Populaire and Fortis Bank provided debt.

Novax buys Himla stake

Novax, the private equity arm of family-owned Axel Johnson group, has acquired a 33 per cent stake in Himla through the purchase of new and existing shares. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

YFM Private Equity has invested £3.5m (€5.1m) to support the management buyout of fitted kitchen specialist Harvey Jones through three of its funds. The total deal value has not been disclosed.

Horizon Capital offloads Shostka

Horizon Capital has exited its investment in Shostka City Milk Plant, selling the Ukrainian cheese manufacturer to France’s Bel Group. The size of the deal was not disclosed, but it is thought to have delivered Horizon an impressive return.

Halder closes door on Pr?m-Garant

Halder has sold its stake in German door and door frame manufacturer Prüm-Garant Holding to Swiss industrial company Looser Holding.
