CEE firm Genesis Capital flips POS Media to Thai trade buyer

Genesis Capital, the CEE-focused private equity investor, has exited point-of-sales advertising business POS Media to Thai trade buyer DemoPower.

The deal provides a swift exit for Genesis, which acquired a 47 per cent stake in the Czech company in March 2017.

It is the first exit from Genesis’s third fund, for which it raised more than €80m. Genesis is in the third year of its five-year investment period.

“The deal with DemoPower offered a highly attractive return to the fund’s investors already after a fairly short 14-month investment period. I am glad that Genesis’ bet on retail services industry has paid off,” said Jan Tauber, managing partner at Genesis Capital.

POS works with companies including Tesco, Ahold and Unilver. Founder and chief executive Richard van het Bolscher will remain majority owner.

DemoPower specialises in point-of-sale demonstration and brand awareness campaigns. It is part of Omni Marketing Global, a pan-Asian marketing group.
