A team of veteran managers have launched Mobius Capital Partners, a new firm that will invest in emerging Europe and frontier markets.
The new house is led by founders Mark Mobius, Carlos Hardenberg and Greg Konieczny. It will be headquartered in London and invest in emerging markets, focusing on deals where it can actively improve governance and ESG standards.
Mobius has received authorisation from the UK’s FCA and plans to launch an open-ended SICAV fund in Luxembourg.
“We aim to instil an investment focus that unlocks sustainable, long term value and makes meaningful and measurable improvements to the companies we invest in. We will utilise an active ownership approach to portfolio companies acting as catalysts for ESG improvements,” co-founder Hardenberg said.
The founding team has decades of experience in emerging markets. Mobius has managed emerging markets funds since 1987, Hardenberg has run emerging markets money for 19 years and Konieczny was previously the fund manager of a London and Bucharest listed $2.7bn (€2.2bn) Romanian fund as well as an open-ended Eastern European fund.
