Equistone acquires prefab home groups from Adcuram

Equistone Partners Europe has acquired prefabricated home manufacturers Bien-Zenker and Hanse Haus from German industrial holding company Adcuram.

Bien-Zenker and Hanse Haus design, manufacture, sell and build prefabricated homes in Germany, Switzerland and the UK. The businesses generated combined revenues of more than €300m in 2017.

Bien-Zenker is headquartered in Schlüchtern and has a history dating back more than 100 years. The company has a sales network across Germany and and has a presence in the mid-range price segments of the market. It recently launched an independent brand called Living Haus, which supplies customers with self-build interior kits to design their homes as they chose.

Hanse Hause is based Oberleichtersbach, Bavaria and began life in 1929 as a carpentry business. It has grown into a one-stop provider of turnkey prefabricated homes, serving the mid-range and premium price segments of the market. Hanse Haus is led by managing director Marco Hammer.

The Equistone investment in the two prefab home makers follows its acquisition of UK static homes manufacturer Willerby earlier this year.

“The highly-fragmented prefabricated home market offers great growth potential,” Equistone partner Stefan Maser said in a statement.

Equistone was advised by EY, Munich Strategy Group, Norton Rose Fulbright, GCA Altium, Latham & Watkins, Tauw, and MRH Trowe.
