STAR Capital Partners has closed its third fund at €800m.

The firm, which focuses on asset-based businesses in western Europe, closed the fund at hard-cap with backing from investors in Europe, North America and Asia.

It matches the sum raised for the firm’s second fund, which closed in 2006. In 2014 STAR raised a €60m “finance partnership” vehicle which was established to consolidate independent asset finance brokers.

The firm has made two investments from STAR Strategic Assets III thus far: UK linen outsourcer Synergy LMS and German data storage business Globalways.

London-based STAR is led by executive chairman Tony Mallin and managing partners Paul Gough and Uniti Bhalla.

Aerius Associates acted as placement agent and Morrison Foerster provided legal advice.
