Kernel Capital has led a €2m round of financing in Irish microchip manufacturer ChipSensors, alongside investors Enterprise Ireland and ETC Capital.
ChipSensors is a developer of silicon sensor chips based at the University of Limerick. The company’s sensor chips measure atmospheric conditions, such as temperature, humidity and the presence of pathogens or certain gases.
Applications for the microchips include energy-saving devices, automobile air-conditioners and the monitoring of perishable goods-in-transit.
The funding will be used to enhance the sales and marketing of its products, and to increase its distribution network, especially in the US, China, and Japan.
