Kernel Capital invests in Hybrid Systems

Kernel Capital has led an €800,000 investment in Hybrid Systems, a provider of renewable energy systems.

Kernel Capital has led an €800,000 investment in Hybrid Systems, a provider of renewable energy systems.

Hybrid Systems provides power services for off-grid telecoms bases around the world. While standard generators typically operate around the clock and consume up to 60 litres of diesel per day, the system developed by Hybrid Systems only uses around ten litres and the engine runs for around five or six hours a day.

The system has been deployed in around 100 global sites and customers include Meteor, Telefonica, O2, British Telecom and Cinergy.

“[Improving telecoms infrastructure] is life-changing for people in remote communities and connects them to the rest of the world. Our solution can enable access to humanitarian aid, medical and financial support, not to mention business opportunities as well as education whilst simultaneously enabling direct energy savings,” said Nick McGrath, chief executive and founder of Hybrid Energy.
