Intermediate Capital Group managing director Tom Attwood has joined the board of the Private Equity Foundation, a philanthropic organisation backed by some of the world's biggest names in private equity.
Alongside existing trustees, he will support the industry initiative as it continues to evolve and expand its role, helping disadvantaged young people who are not in education, employment or training.
The foundation donates financial contributions and pro-bono business expertise to youth and children’s charities to enable them to scale up to help more young people.
Attwood has been a pivotal figure for ICG, having helped the listed mezzanine investor launch in 1989, and becoming its managing director in 1996.
"Our generation has been unusually negligent in investing in our children's generation and there is much to do,” said Attwood.
The ICG senior executive joins KKR’s head of European operations, Johannes Huth, who signed up to PEF in March.
Since its creation in 2006, the foundation has created a portfolio of 17 charities and is backed by more than 70 private equity firms and their advisers.
