Managed hosting provider Basefarm, backed by Norwegian private equity firm Reiten & Co Capital Partners, has acquired Dutch application management specialist Bluedome. Financial details were not disclosed.
Operating across Scandinavia, Basefarm delivers mission-critical managed hosting to media companies, directory services, e-commerce businesses, financial institutes and the public sector. Earlier this year the company acquired Norwegian hosting specialist Webdeal.
Managed hosting company Bluedome operates in the Dutch market and serves clients such as D-Reizen, Radio 538, SBS and Funda.
Both companies have a strong focus on application management. The Basefarm group's hosting services range from cloud computing to fully dedicated environments, delivered from any of their six data centres throughout Holland, Sweden and Norway.
“Bluedome has a service offering and a culture quite close to ours,” said Grethe Viksaas, chief executive of the Basefarm Group. “This joining of forces has clear synergies. Their focus on new business within the security area for example, is a very good match with Basefarm's own ambitions. Providing high-end cloud services with local support is another good example.”
Reiten & Co, a private equity firm with a single office in Oslo, invested in Basefarm in December 2009 to support the company's aim to expand into Northern Europe.
Following the acquisition the combined companies will have a turnover of €45m in 2011 and approximately 260 employees.
