Beneq has raised €3m from Via Venture Partners, Inventure and several other investors.

Vantaa-based Beneq is a manufacturer of industrial equipment, specialising in nanosize coating.

Beneq’s main product, based on its proprietary Hot Aerosol Layering Operation technology, is a flame spray system used mainly for applying coatings on glass, ceramic tiles and certain metals.

It also owns Atomic Layer Deposition technology, a thin-film coating method widely used in the semiconductor industry, that Beneq is applying to new areas.

Beneq spun out from Nextrom, a supplier of fibre-optic products and services, in May 2005.

Holtron led the company’s €1m first round of venture funding in July 2006.

Since then, it has launched several new industrial applications and gained new customer contracts with companies including jewellery manufacturers Kalevala Koru and Lapponia Jewelry.

“We are very pleased with Beneq’s performance during the past year from our initial investment. The company has managed to penetrate the market with their products and technology exceptionally well,” said Timo Tirkkonen of Inventure.
