Sovereign Capital has managed to secure a £16.5m (€20.6m) debt package from Lloyds to fund its investment in Excellence Education, a group of three independent sixth-form colleges in central London. 

Duff Miller in Kensington, Lansdowne College in Bayswater and Chelsea Independent College in Fulham provide private sixth-form education to over 750 students with structured, tailored tuition.

Under the Department of Education’s "value added" measurement, the recognised qualitative barometer for teaching quality, the colleges also rank in the top quartile of UK schools.

Excellence Education intends to open new colleges around the UK, expand into primary and secondary education provision, and serve the international pupil market both in the UK and abroad through organic and acquisitive growth.

Lloyds Bank Wholesale Banking & Markets provided the debt financing for the deal.
