Axa Private Equity has just made its second investment in Italy in as many weeks with the acquisition of Milan-based Bruni Glass. In spite of the gloom in Southern Europe, private equity investors are not holding back.

“In this kind of environment, there will be winners and losers. Some will lose market share and disappear, others will win contracts from weaker rivals, have the opportunity to acquire companies and have a stronger market position so when the economy recovers, they stand to benefit the most,” says Luis Segui, managing partner of Miura Private Equity.

At this year's European Mid-Market conference in Paris, Segui will be joined by investors from Alto Partners, Clessidra Capital and Mercapital to discuss the opportunities in the region.

With speakers including notable LPs, GPs and advisers, other panel sessions on the day will focus on opportunities in origination strategies and LP appetite for Europe.

The event will take place at the Hilton Arc de Triomphe Paris on 19 October.
