Carlyle Group has bought Penti, a Turkish underwear company, for an undisclosed sum.
Founded in 1950, Penti is a hosiery manufacturer and retailer of lingerie and swimwear across Turkey. Headquartered in Istanbul, the company employs 1,847 people and has a capacity of 68 million units at its plant. The company has a 45 per cent stake of the Turkish hosiery market.
Penti has 155 stores in Turkey, with another 39 across 16 countries.
Mid Europa and Turkven, in partnership with the luxury group LVMH, were also said to be interested in the company.
