Care UK, backed by Bridgepoint, has acquired Whitwood Care, a subsidiary of Michael Wheatley Holdings. 

Whitwood Care is based in Castleford and operates three residential care homes, with a total of 48 beds, for adults with learning disabilities and behavioural challenges such as autistic spectrum disorders and Asperger's syndrome. 

Bridgepoint acquired Care UK in 2010, in a deal worth €480m. The business provides health and social care services working with local authorities and the UK's National Health Service to provide residential, community, specialist, primary and secondary healthcare.

Park Place Corporate Finance acted as lead adviser on the disposal and Walker Morris provided legal advice to the vendors.
