Sir George Buckley, chairman of Arle Capital, has been elected to the board of PepsiCo and will join its audit committee in September. 

Buckley took on his role as chairman of Arle in February this year. He was previously chairman, president and chief executive of 3M. Prior to that he was chairman and chief executive of Brunswick Corporation in the US, a producer of recreational products for the fitness, marine, bowling and billiard industries.

Buckley received a PhD in engineering through joint studies at the University of Southampton and the University of Huddersfield. He also holds a BSc in electrical and electronic engineering and an honorary Doctor of Science degree in engineering from the University of Huddersfield. He was knighted in 2011 for his services to industry.
