Mid Europa Partners, the biggest private equity firm dedicated exclusively to Central and Eastern Europe, is continuing to bet on healthcare with a new investment in laboratory diagnostics company Fryda.

Fryda offers its diagnostics services to Polish hospitals, private clinics and individuals.

Last year the company performed around ten million tests in more than 30 laboratories across the country.

The deal follows Mid Europa's acquisition of lab diagnostics business Diagnostyka in January.

The private equity firm is bullish on healthcare in Europe's emerging markets. In October 2007 Mid Europa acquired 100 per cent of Lux Med, and Medycyna Rodzinna, respectively the second- and the sixth-largest healthcare providers in Poland.

In October this year Mid Europa acquired a 65 per cent stake in hospital group Kent, marking its first move into Turkey.
