Captive firm Barclays Private Equity has already registered its new name, Equistone Partners Europe, in preparation for its impending spin-out.
The name "Equistone Private Equity" was registered with Companies House on 10 December last year, with its address matching the Barclays team's current office location. However, the company will brand itself as Equistone Partners Europe.
A month prior to the new company registration, Barclays Private Equity had reached an agreement with its parent to spin out after months of speculation.
Instead of paying a lump sum for its independence the team has agreed to pay Barclays a share of future profits.
The firm is currently raising its first fund off the bank's balance sheet and is looking for €1.5bn worth of commitments.
It is thought the Equistone name will be officially announced once a first close has been reached, after which the team will claim autonomy.
