Martin Clarke, a partner at Permira and head of the consumer team, is set to leave the firm.

According to The Times Clarke, who was behind investments in New Look and Telepizza, will leave the large buyout house before the end of the year to join a smaller buyout firm. He has been a partner at Permira since 2004.

Clarke has worked in the private equity industry for more than 25 years. Before joining Permira, he was one of the founder directors of PPM Capital, the private equity arm of Prudential, where he worked on more than 20 deals. Previously he was at CIN Industrial Investments, the precursor of Cinven.

He holds a Masters and PhD in History from Cambridge University.
