European venture capital firm Wellington Partners has invested in UK start-up Artfinder, a catalogue for sharing and discovering artwork.

Angel investor Sherry Coutu and LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman, via his Greylock Discovery Fund, have also backed the nascent company – which is being touted as Last.fm for art.

This is Artfinder’s first funding round and remains undisclosed.

Artfinder’s online catalogue, which recently went live, features over 250,000 works from over 400 institutions.
