Montagu Private Equity has acquired Helly Hansen Pro alongside its existing management team from the Helly Hansen Group for an undisclosed sum.

Helly Hansen Pro provides survival and personal-protection suits to offshore and shipping markets. Montagu will rebrand the business as Hansen Protection.

Hansen Protection is based in Moss, Norway, and employs 140 staff. The business is organised in three main business segments: survival-suit rental, used by personnel in their transport between land and offshore installations; personal-protection suits, used in other marine and hazardous environments; and pro textiles, which includes boat canopies and products for the agriculture, industry and health sectors.

Hansen Protection chief executive Terje Gorm Hansen plans to use the investment from Montagu to widen the business’s product offering and break into new markets.
